| sigikid was founded more than 40 years ago and is today a family owned company in the 2nd generation. Early on, sigikid became known not only for its unique design and creative products, but also for the high quality standard, noticeable in the ultra softness and durability of our toys. While sigikid is based in the toy making region of Bavaria in Germany, we no longer manufacture our toys locally.
Up until the mid 90s, we proudly manufactured everything in Germany. With the increasing globalization and expansions into new markets however, we – much like everybody else in the industry – gradually shifted operations to outside suppliers over the next decade. Today, the world is our home. We produce and sell our products worldwide. The topic of global production often leads to discussions about human rights and fair trade. We offer the following statement on this topic: “As a company, sigikid is part of a global world. Some of our production plants are located in countries in which the majority of the population has a standard of living well below that of our Western world. Our production orders secure the income of many families in these countries, and with our SIGI-SAFE system we ensure that the production here takes place in a fair and safe environment. We are sometimes accused that, in doing so, we in some way support unethical practices in certain countries. We cannot make a country change its general policies. However, we do believe that this change will come as the economic power of the population increases. |
We pass on the purchasing advantages we gain from having an international production to our customers throughout the world so that more people can afford our products. We naturally profit from this as well, and secure the jobs of our more than 100 employees in Germany in the process.â€

We are proud to confirm that sigikid adheres to the same safety and quality standards as when everything was still made in Germany. For our products we use only the best materials and are very careful about whom we allow to manufacture under the sigikid label. All our products are designed and produced with the same affection, diligence and attention to detail, no matter where they come from. Be it from our joint venture in Romania, or from our partners in Moldova, Thailand, Indonesia, China and India. Compliance with the CPSIA, governed by third party labs is at the center of our product safety effort. All products also go through quality control at sigikid’s company headquarters in Mistelbach, Germany. |
