sigikid is a family-owned toy company creating premium plush toys, baby gifts, stuffed animals, and children’s toys for families around the world. Since 1968, sigikid has been known for combining playful design, trusted quality, and products made to be loved for years.
Our roots go back even further. Our German parent company, H. Scharrer & Koch GmbH, was founded in 1856 in Bayreuth, Bavaria. Originally a maker of glass beads for export, the company evolved over generations before entering the toy world in the early 1900s.
In 1968, the Gottstein family launched the sigikid brand. That same year, they also welcomed their first child, Axel. The name sigikid combines “Sigi” (short for Sigrid, one of the founders) with “kid”—a fitting name for a company devoted to children from the very beginning.

Axel, the son born the same year sigikid was founded, has led sigikid Germany for more than 30 years and oversees operations from the company headquarters in Mistelbach, Germany. His sister, Eva Frecea, and her husband, Lucian, support business development and growth across the Americas.
1968 was clearly a productive year for the family.
